We built Descriptive with an understanding that there is no shortage of agencies and product companies in the world to choose from ...
After all, we originated from one.
However, we noticed that the models of many of these companies fall short, especially when it comes to how teams and products are constructed.
We wanted to build a company that aims to address these issues by applying design to deliver against business goals – a marriage of management consulting and design. A company that challenges its team members to get their hands dirty, not skimp on the details, and live a culture of intense collaboration — internally and with clients.
This is how Descriptive originated, and we follow a few core principles to ensure that we bring our vision to life ...
one
Be nice.
It's simple, be a nice human being. We have zero-tolerance for attitude. From here, all other rules follow.
two
Embrace being a team with shared accountability.
We're in it together. If we have questions, we voice them. If we're stuck, we speak up. If we have ideas, we share them. Everyone at Descriptive plays a significant role in our collective goal of superior top-level products.
three
Have a relentless drive to get it right.
Design is equal parts of how things work, how things look. We don't stop until functionality and look & feel come together in one seamless user experience.
four
Believe that design impacts business goals.
Design goes far beyond just how a product looks. At its core, our work is about the fundamental problems we're solving to improve a business through better customer experiences.
five
Walk into the room with no judgment.
Premature bias gets us in trouble. It prevents us from seeing the bigger picture. That's why we bring different disciplines together on each project and make sure we go into every meeting with an open mind and a desire to learn something new.
